Peeling is used to remove dead skin and debris that causes clogged pores and blackheads. As opposed to an exfoliating scrub, a peeling is softer on the skin and removes dead cells by gently soaking them off. Peeling will transform dull skin into a soft, plump and glowy skin.
Which Peeling should I use?
Peelings come in different forms and shapes such as liquids or soaked cotton pads. Different formulas have been adapted to the different skin types and skin conditions. You will often find powerful yet gentle ingredients in peelings such as BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) mixed with soothing ingredients like aloe vera. The most gentle peelings are often toners as well and can be used on a daily basis.
How should I use my peeling product?
Peeling is the third step of your routine. As opposed to the other steps, it shouldn't be used daily. Once to twice a week is the maximum if you want to avoid redness and irritated skin. If the peeling you purchase is also a toner, you can apply it daily after your double cleansing (step one and two). Liquid peelings can be used with a cotton pad or applied directly with your hands. Peelings should be used on a dry and clean skin. In the shape of a soaked cotton pad often you will see a ribbed side and a soft side. Use the ribbed side first with circular movement and pat your face gently with the soft side. None of the peelings need rinsing.
